Job Description

The Front of House staff member responsibilities include greeting and welcoming patrons, ensuring that server stations are well-organized, cleaning, clearing, and setting tables, ensuring that the restaurant supplies and equipment are clean and maintained, and assisting customers with requests or complaints and removing restaurant trash. To be a successful Front of House staff member, you should be knowledgeable about proper food handling procedures and have excellent organizational skills. Ultimately, exceptional Front of House staff member should be able to communicate effectively with patrons as well as demonstrate outstanding customer service skills. In the dining room a Front of House staff member is responsible for removing leftovers from patrons’ plates, bowls, and glasses. A Front of House staff member should be able to follow all food health and safety regulations and display exceptional organizational skills to ensure the timely completion of front of house duties.

 

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning and sterilizing front of house areas

  • Ensuring that food health and safety regulations are followed

  • Ensuring that the server stations are adequately stocked with containers, napkins, and condiments

  • Performing clean-up duties, which includes sweeping and mopping as well as polishing counters and fixtures

  • Answering customers questions regarding meal ingredients and preparation

  • Ensuring that tables are cleared, cleaned, and reset between seatings

  • Serving food and refilling beverages as required

  • Assisting with the cleaning and processing of dirty dishes and silverware

  • Managing the inventory of items located underneath the beverage station to include changing of the beverages and making tea

  • Deliver food orders to a variety of customers in a timely manner

  • Accurately explain food orders to chefs, with specific attention to allergies and special requests

  • Occasionally check on customers to handle any impromptu requests or issues

 

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED

  • ServSafe food handling certification is preferred

  • Sound knowledge of proper food handling procedures

  • The ability to follow recipes

  • The ability to stand for extended periods of time

  • Effective communication skills

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role

  • Superb multitasking skills
