Front of House Shift Leader

Job Description

We are looking for a shift leader with natural leadership abilities to stand in for the manager during shifts. The shift leader supervises staff and monitors inventory levels to ensure that restaurant operations run smoothly. To be successful as a shift leader you must be able to multitask. A good shift leader has excellent interpersonal skills and experience working in a restaurant. The shift leader responsibilities include greeting and welcoming patrons, ensuring that server stations are well-organized, cleaning, clearing, and setting tables, ensuring that the restaurant supplies and equipment are clean and maintained, and assisting customers with requests or complaints and removing restaurant trash. To be a successful shift leader, you should be knowledgeable about proper food handling procedures and have excellent organizational skills. Ultimately, an exceptional shift leader should be able to communicate effectively with patrons as well as demonstrate outstanding customer service skills. A shift leader should be able to follow all food health and safety regulations and display exceptional organizational skills to ensure the timely completion of front of house duties.

 

Responsibilities

·      Assign tasks to staff.

·      Supervise staff throughout the shift.

·      Monitor inventory levels.

·      Ensure that enough staff members are present for the shift.

·      Resolve conflict between staff members.

·      Receive feedback from customers and resolve any complaints

  • Ensuring that food health and safety regulations are followed

  • Ensuring that the server stations are adequately stocked with containers, napkins, and condiments

  • Performing clean-up duties, which includes sweeping and mopping as well as polishing counters and fixtures

  • Answering customers questions regarding meal ingredients and preparation

  • Ensuring that tables are cleared, cleaned, and reset between seatings

  • Serving food and refilling beverages as required

  • Assisting with the cleaning and processing of dirty dishes and silverware

  • Managing the inventory of items located underneath the beverage station to include changing of the beverages and making tea

  • Deliver food orders to a variety of customers in a timely manner

  • Accurately explain food orders to chefs, with specific attention to allergies and special requests

  • Occasionally check on customers to handle any impromptu requests or issues

 

Requirements

·       High school diploma or GED

·       Experience working in a restaurant, preferably in a managerial position.

·       Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

·       Natural leadership abilities.

·       ServSafe food handling certification is preferred

·       Sound knowledge of proper food handling procedures

·       The ability to follow recipes

·       The ability to stand for extended periods of time

·       Superb multitasking skills
